About Gerdine Hoeve

The Gerdine Hoeve was founded in 1991 by Paul van Rijswijk. He named his company after his first horse Gerdine. Since 2000, Aniek van Santvoort has joined the company and they have continued the Gerdine Hoeve together. Aniek was no stranger to Paul, as she had been taking riding lessons from Paul since she was 12 years old and then came to work at the stable during weekends and holidays. Aniek's horse Japie was also a breeding product of the Gerdine Hoeve and was of course purchased from Paul.

It cannot be seen as a surprise that Paul has continued his career in horses. Father Sjef van Rijswijk is also not a stranger to the horse world. He selected many stallions as a member of the KWPN stallion selection committee for many years and has designed and developed various horse stables in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Under the leadership of Paul and Aniek, large numbers of horses showed up at the KWPN inspections. They have prepared many champions, Ster-, Keur- and Elite mares and approved stallions. Nowadays the inspections are getting less, so they decided to focus on other markets. Horses are still prepared for inspection on a smaller scale, but since 2008 Paul and Aniek have focused especially on the export of horses. China is their largest sales market, but other continents are also on the rise.

We specialize in the trade of ridden sport horses, but do you have a request for a specific breed? Please contact us and we will discuss together what is possible. We sell to private individuals as well as to companies and special projects.

Full-service experience

There is a lot involved in transporting a horse abroad. When purchasing a horse through Horses China, we arrange everything. From quarantine to transport, customs documentation and the necessary health tests. Horses China ensures that your horse will reach its destination safely. Would you like to visit our stable or view horses with us in the Netherlands? We can also help you arrange your trip. We can help you with the visa application, making a hotel reservations and/or transport from the airport.

Training

We offer various training options. For example, we can have an instructor come to your location to provide instruction, with the help of an interpreter when necessary. This way you can be sure that with the right training you will get off to a good start with your new horse.

Exportproces

When exporting horses to China or other countries in Asia, we must comply with a strict procedure and government regulations. This way we can be sure that the horses lack nothing and that they are delivered to their destination in good health. Below is an overview of the steps to be taken in the export process:

1. Arrange import permit to China

2. First blood test of the horses (result within 1 week)

3. Horses go into quarantine in the Netherlands (32 days)

4. Second blood test (result within 1 week)

5. After quarantine a health certificate is issued

6. Horses fly to China

7. Horses go into quarantine in China (30 days)

8. After the quarantine period the process is complete

9. And the horses travel to their final destination

Professional team

Horses China works with a dedicated and professional team, consisting of riders, trainers, grooms, veterinarians and farrier. We work together with various government agencies in the Netherlands and Asia for the export and import process. We also offer new horse owners coaching in the care and training of their new horses, with the help of an interpreter when necessary. This way, new owners can enjoy their horse and gain experience, while we ensure that everything involved is arranged.
